Another way to gain space on a Windows Server, up to version 2003, C: drive

  • Copy the ClientApps directory to another partition on the server.
  • In the share properties, copy the share description to the clipboard
  • Check the share permissions. It should be full control for "Domain Users".
  • Kill the share on C:\ClientApps and share the same directory on the new partition, pasting the data from the clipboard into the new share description
  • Change the share permissions to those as previously mentioned above or to what is actually set on your server

Now open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\clientsetup
In the right pane, double-click ClientAppsRoot and alter the value data box to reflect where the ClientApps directory now resides

When all of the above is done and verified to be correct, delete the original directory, C:\ClientApps
