0x0000007e error installing shared network printer

If you are getting the dreaded "Printer Cannot Connect Operation Failed 0x0000007e" when you are attempting to connect to a network printer which has been shared from a Windows server...

The following may solve the issue for you.

Go to the server which the printer is installed and shared from, run "regedit" and locate the following registry entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > system > controlset001 > control > print > printers > (printername) > Copyfiles

Export "copyfiles" and then delete it.

Go back to the client machine and attempt to install the printer again.

It worked for me. This is a much better solution than the alternative solution of creating a local port pointing to the printer IP address and essentially installing it as a local printer.
You still have the print queue on the server rather than on the local PC. Which as we all know is very handy when the printer screws up and we only have one place to go and check the document status.
It ain't the years honey, it's the mileage.
