Steam not working

Nothing within Steam appears to be working for me at the moment.

Updates to existing games, browsing the store, looking at my messages.

When I exit the software the Steam process remains running and steamerrorreporter.exe always runs after closing the application from the taskbar.

First of all I tried removing the clientregistryblob file from program files (x86)/Steam directory and then run Steam so that it would update itself as required.

Didn't work.

Looks like I will have to copy the steamapps directory to another drive and try to uninstall Steam and reinstall it.

Tried various suggestions from Steam Support. Nothing worked.

Yesterday I took a copy of my Steam directory from my office PC and transferred it to my home PC. Firstly renaming the original Steam directory. This appears to have fixed the problem.

We shall see. Currently downloading the missing games.

I had to take a copy of the entire Steam directory from another PC I own which was working and transfer that to the other PC.

This worked but I had to download a load of stuff and lost my game play positions for a lot of the games. Oh well.
