Kind of related to the previous post...

While clearing out all the crap which had fallen down the back of my desk drawers (and stopping them from closing) I found a fitness sheet from the gym where I still attend today. The sheet is ten years old... !

What I found interesting is that I am 4 pounds lighter now than I was then. But even more interesting is that all the strength exercises I do now, I am lifting/pulling/pushing much more than I ever used to.
The only areas I need to improve on are my running times and stamina, what I did not remember is that back then I could belt out 2 mile runs in under 14 minutes...

Going to show it to my personal trainer at our next session. It might give him a chuckle.

Another day, another mile on the treadmill...
This time, 6 minutes and 13 seconds, works out at about 9.6 MPH or 15.5 KPH

I think this is one of my fastest 1 mile runs ever... :!:

How long until I can get to 6 minutes flat?

But remember kiddies, it is the marathon distance I eventually want to aim for and I want to do it at a better rate than 7.4 MPH average. Which was my New York marathon run back in 2003. 3 hours and 33 minutes.

Speed (mph) = Distance (miles) ÷ Time (hours)
Time = Distance ÷ Speed
Distance = Speed x time

But for short distances like I am doing and the time taken, you need to divide the seconds by 60 to decimalise it. So 6 minutes 13 seconds becomes 6.216 minutes then you divide it by 60 to get the hours, 0.1036

So to calculate the mph of 1 mile run in 6 minutes 13 seconds its goes like this;
Speed = 1 / 0.1036
Speed = 9.65 mph

Word of advice.

Never do an hour with your personal trainer and then go straight into another hour of circuit training. You will feel as if you are going to die... :lol:

Went for it tonight and managed a 5:58 mile. Not going to try that again for a while! Honestly felt as if I was going to throw up when I finished. It was also damned hard. Had to grab the front bar a couple of times.

But it was mentally boosting to be able to manage it at all...

I now have an app on my smartphone that takes your heart rate. So as I use it as an alarm clock, I have taken to taking what is referred to as a "resting heart rate" reading with it. This is where you take your beats per minute literally after waking up, before you even get out of bed.

My best one so far? 42 beats per minute. My lowest ever was ten years ago at the peak of previous fitness, when it got down to 38bpm. Not so far to go then...

My weight is still hovering around the 140 pounds mark, which I am very satisfied with.

My general resting heart rate is around 48 bpm. I guess that the 42 was a bit of an aberration... ;)

No new pictures, but a bit of a milestone for me...

Had my weight and body fat checked this morning, I am 61.3Kg - 135 Pounds - 9 Stone 9 Pounds
Body fat percentage is down to 15%

I'm pretty sure my body fat ratio has never been so low and I have not weighed this little since my early 30's!

Only 3% to go!
